The platforms your newsroom runs on

A one-person newsroom runs on rented infrastructure.

Every tool an independent crypto reporter uses, someone else holds. That's a fine arrangement until it isn't.

Your archive lives on someone else's account

Google Workspace, Notion, Dropbox. Every draft, every interview, every document you've gathered. A policy change or a wrong dispute resolution and it's gone.

Your sources talk to you through their platforms

Signal, Telegram, email. Metadata logged. Servers subpoenable. Your sources took a risk reaching you. They deserve better than that.

Your distribution can be deplatformed

Crypto coverage has been demonetized, suspended, and shadow-banned by every major platform at one point. Your archive shouldn't depend on staying in their good graces.

The Ark replaces the parts of your workflow that don't need to be rented. Drafts, interviews, source documents, and contact graph all live on hardware you possess. End-to-end encrypted comms. Nothing for a third party to log, hand over, or be compelled to produce.

Your newsroom, owned

Your archive on hardware you control

Drafts, interviews, source documents, research files. AES-256 at rest. Available over an encrypted tunnel from anywhere. Nobody else holds a copy.

Source comms that don't leave a trail

End-to-end encrypted messaging and file transfer through your Ark. Contact graph stays on the device. No third-party server logging who reached you when.

An identity nobody can deplatform

Your Ark needs no phone number, no email, no account tied to your real name. Your tooling can't be suspended because there's no account to suspend.

Anonymous source intake

Sources connect to your Ark without providing an email, phone, or any identifying information. The Ark requires no identity to use, from either side of the conversation.

Collaborator access, revokable

Bring on an editor or co-reporter for a single investigation. End-to-end encrypted sharing between Arks. Access can be revoked per collaborator at any time.

Encrypted off-device backup

Every Ark ships with a free encrypted backup disk. Your archive stays recoverable even if the primary device is lost.

Everything you need to know.

I already use Signal for source comms. Why do I need this?
Signal is excellent for the channel itself. The Ark covers everything around the channel: where the documents your sources send you actually live, who holds the metadata about the conversation, what happens to your archive if your phone is lost or your account locked. And the Ark needs no phone number on either side.
Can my editor or co-reporter access shared files?
Yes, through end-to-end encrypted sharing between Arks or via an encrypted tunnel to your device. You control who has access and you can revoke it at any time.
What if I'm raided or my Ark is seized?
Biometric access plus AES-256 at rest means a powered-off Ark is opaque to anyone who doesn't have your biometrics. Standard precaution: power it down when crossing borders or in higher-risk situations. Your obligations under a subpoena are your own to navigate with counsel. What we can tell you is that we don't hold your data and we have nothing to hand over.
Is this overkill for a small operation?
We built it specifically for one- or two-person teams. The point is that an independent reporter shouldn't need an institutional IT department to have institutional-grade tooling.
What about backups?
Encrypted off-device backup is part of the Ark setup. The Early Access bundle includes the backup disk free of charge. You control the backup target. We never see your backup data.
